5 Inspiring Photo Booth Ideas For Your Washington DC Party

A photo booth is a perfect way to make your party memorable! Here are 5 inspiring photo booth ideas for your Washington DC party or event.

Do you ever notice how there’s always a photo booth at every event you attend, be it a wedding or a birthday or a going-away party?

That’s because its value is worth more than its cost. It entertains your guests, it doubles as a party favor, it gives the couple an additional set of photos, and it’s a good alternative for people who don’t want to dance.

So if you were thinking twice about getting one, stop. Instead, think of some photo booth ideas for your party. Here are the top five ideas we came up with.

1. Let Your Guests Hold Something

Want something fun for your wedding? Use speech bubbles that your guests can hold while they pose for pictures.

These speech bubbles can contain something like “Best Wedding Ever!” or “Congratulations!” Aside from that, you can make it even more fun by adding quips like the following:

  • I came for the cake/beer
  • I’m/She’s/He’s still single
  • You had me at the open bar
  • I can’t dance
  • Wedding crasher

Of course, there should also be something for the bride and groom when it’s time for them to try their photo booth. This could be something like:

  • He put a ring on it
  • My wife/My husband
  • Mr *surname*/Mrs *surname*
  • Mr right/Mrs always right

You can rent these speech bubbles if you don’t want to do these yourselves. In most cases, you can request specific “speeches” you want in your photo booth.

Another item your guests can hold is a large polaroid frame. This lets your guests take pictures anywhere.

All you’ll need is something like an illustration board and cut out the middle part to resemble a polaroid picture. You can put your names and the date of the wedding below to personalize it.

2. Set Up Any Theme You Want

Themed photo booths involve a full set-up of the theme you want. This means you don’t have to rely on the usual backdrops to add spice to the wedding photos.

You’ll need to designate a space in your venue for the photo booth. Depending on your theme, it can take up a huge space.

If you want a Victorian living room, for example, you’ll need a sofa set, furniture, a wall(s), and decorations on the wall, like frames and a window looking out to beautiful scenery.

If you need more themed wedding photo booth ideas, here are some:

  • Outer space
  • Garden
  • Beach
  • Fairy tales
  • Theatre

For the furniture and other things you might need, you can rent them, commission them, or make them yourself. For the walls, you can contact a printing company.

3. Rent a Retro Van to Act as a Backdrop

A retro van for your vintage wedding? Perfect! But note that you can use it for boho, romantic, and rustic-themed weddings, too!

This wedding photo booth idea requires that you rent a retro van; the Volkswagen buses from the 1960s are the most popular model for this. It helps that this model comes in pretty colors, you only have to choose which one suits your theme.

Some photo booth rental companies have this option, but if you want to DIY it, you have to find a company that rents it out. A great idea that many brides use is to use it as the bridal car first and then as a backdrop during the reception.

The van is pretty enough as it is, but to make it more like a wedding photo booth, stage it using fairy lights, flowers, and other retro items you can think of. You can even put chairs outside the van and a LED Marquee Lights Sign that says “PHOTOS.”

4. Make Your Guests Feel Like Celebrities

Attending the Academy Awards may be a far fetched idea, but attending your wedding isn’t. If you want your guests to feel like celebrities for a day, why not set up a red carpet photo booth? This can take your guest from Washington DC to Hollywood in an instant!

Order a wall with the names of the bride and groom with your monogram. You can design it yourself or you can ask the printing company to do it for you. Make sure it’s large enough to accommodate a group of people.

Then, rent some red ropes, golden poles, and the most important of all – a red carpet. You can situate it at the entrance, so your hired photographer can take their pictures as they arrive at the venue (like a real celebrity event).

If you can, inform your guests in advance that you’re doing this. This allows them the chance to doll up for their red carpet walk.

5. Use Old Doors as Frame

Old doors are great to use for bohemian, vintage, rustic, whimsical, and romantic weddings. This is especially a great idea if you have an outdoor venue. The door frame can highlight the scenery beyond instead of block it.

There’s something magical about an old door frame that’s out of place. It will work better, though, if the sights beyond are of nature. It might not work if it only frames some bricks, but you can decorate the wall if you want to make it work.

All you have to do is decorate the door frame with some flowers. You may even add items like crates, stands, lanterns, and more flowers on the ground. You may also put fabrics like tulle and wrap it or hang it to create a nice effect.

You can also add some character on the door frame by roughing it up a bit. If it’s painted, sand it a bit on some parts to reveal the natural color of the wood underneath. You can include the door(s) and keep it open or closed depending on your preference.
